Husband Sees Wife with Yellow Bracelet in Hospital and Calls the Police
When Emily was brought to the hospital in an ambulance, a yellow bracelet was placed on her. Emily was unconscious and did not notice it. Her husband, who had dropped off the kids at their parents' house, arrived and immediately recognized what had gone wrong. He immediately contacted the police.
Dialing the Emergency Number
Michael had received a call that his wife, Emily, had been transported to the hospital. It had been a lucky coincidence that the emergency number had been dialed at all. But how had everything happened?
Neighbors would usually see Emily at least twice a day when she went for a walk with her dog. That day, she hadn't passed by, which seemed extremely suspicious. It probably wasn't anything serious, but the neighbor decided to stop by Emily's house anyway.
Offering Help
Maybe she could help Emily with something, as she seemed too busy to go for a walk with her dog. However, when the neighbor rang the doorbell, she quickly noticed that something wasn't right.
As expected, the dog started barking loudly and jumping against the door when she rang the bell. But Emily didn't come to open the door. Something must have happened inside the house, and the neighbor tried to see if she could catch a glimpse through the window.
Emily was on the Floor
Emily was unconscious on the floor of her own kitchen. She didn't move or react when the neighbor knocked on the window. The neighbor quickly dialed the emergency number and explained the dire situation. Within minutes, the paramedics had arrived.
They forcefully broke open the door to reach Emily as quickly as possible. It only took a moment before Emily was in the ambulance on her way to the hospital. The neighbor could now contact Michael to inform him about what had happened.
No Idea What Had Happened
Michael was shocked; he had no idea what could be happening to Emily. She had no significant medical history, and everything had been fine that morning. Various worries engulfed him.
When he received the call, he was just picking up the kids and bringing them home. Now it was clear that they wouldn't be going home. He didn't want the kids to know what had happened to their mother. He had to keep a level head.
Taking Them to the Grandparents
He picked up the kids from school and took them to his parents' house. He explained to them that he needed to take care of something and that they would be staying with their grandparents in the meantime. Fortunately, the kids were completely fine with it, and Michael could now focus his thoughts on Emily.
He tried to call the hospital while in the car, but he didn't receive any new information. He was told that Emily had been admitted and that the doctors were currently taking care of her, but that was all. The receptionist couldn't disclose any more information.
Seeking the Truth
The information wasn't enough for Michael, but fortunately, he would soon have the opportunity to go there in person and inquire. After all, he knew that Emily was under medical care. That was the first step in the right direction.
Michael was familiar with the hospital as he was a medical professional himself. He had often called there for his patients before sending them there. Would his familiarity or his title help him in this case?
Avoiding Documents
The hospital was doing everything as expected of them. He had to sign some documents to be allowed to see a person in critical condition. Michael would have preferred to avoid the paperwork, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible.
When a nurse brought all sorts of documents to him, he explained who he was, what profession he had, and that he just wanted to see his wife. The woman stopped and seemed both hesitant and evasive.
Michael had to wait
She looked at Michael in surprise and told him she had to make a quick phone call. It only took about a minute until she returned. Her expression had changed, she was now smiling and directed Michael to a room where he should wait. A doctor would come to him soon.
Michael was relieved, so it seemed that his status was indeed helping him. At least he thought so for now: He had to wait a short while in the room, which felt like an eternity to him. He thought once again about the neighbor's phone call...
Memory
He carefully considered what she had said. Apparently, they had put a yellow armband on his wife. Did he really remember this detail correctly? Usually, emergency patients received red armbands - what was going on here?
He had visited many patients in this hospital and he knew the colors of the wards. He had only noticed a yellow armband a few times, always with very special patients. Emily couldn't fall into that category, could she?
Wanting to see his wife
After this realization, it was even more important for Michael to finally see his wife. He waited another 10 minutes, but no one seemed to be moving in his direction. His patience was slowly running out and he now wanted to find a responsible person.
When he finally wanted to leave the waiting room, he noticed two security guards standing in front of his door. Michael was angry, the hospital was treating him as if he posed a threat. So he was not allowed to leave the room.
No good answers
Michael now wanted to know from the nurse who had spoken to him earlier what was going on. She only said that she was afraid Michael would explore the hospital all alone - that's why she contacted the security guards.
Michael was speechless, he couldn't believe how he was being treated. He had been working with this hospital for a long time and there was absolutely no reason for the staff to treat him like this. Was something else going on?
The yellow armband
Did the hospital not want Michael to visit his wife? Could it be that he was supposed to stay away from her? Did all of this have to do with the yellow armband they had put on his wife. The hospital staff would soon realize their mistake.
Whatever was going on, Michael knew one thing for sure. He would not just sit around and wait for help. His wife needed him and he couldn't just sit there and wait.
Finding a way out
Michael came up with an escape plan. He knew he couldn't use the door because there were two security guards standing there. He looked around and only saw two windows. This escape would be too dangerous and in the end, he would be the one in need of medical help.
Then Michael thought of something that could give him a chance. Through the window, he saw the hospital entrance, the window was slightly open. He could attract the attention of passersby who could help him.
Police
Michael kept thinking. The chances of this plan working were slim. However, he still needed help to free himself from his situation. He took his phone out of his pocket and called the police - now the hospital had to be held accountable.
Michael told them the truth about the situation and the police seemed very surprised. Of course, Michael could have signed the papers without asking many questions, but he didn't deserve to be locked up without information.
10 Minutes Passed
The police car arrived 10 minutes later. Michael had quietly and patiently waited by the window, not saying a word to the security guards. As he realized that the police were now here, he didn't waste a second! Every moment counted.
Now the hospital had no power over him. The police would find out the reason for Michael's situation. The security guards had to answer the question of why they were guarding Michael - unfortunately, they had no idea, except that he was not allowed to visit the hospital halls unnoticed.
They informed their superior
After just a few minutes, the security guards had no choice but to let Michael back into the entrance hall. The police officers wanted to talk to Michael now, after all, he had called them. Michael was relieved that the situation seemed to be getting resolved.
Michael attracted a lot of attention, as he was now accompanied by two police officers. The worst part of the whole situation was that Michael still had no idea what was wrong with his wife. He had to find out now.
Head physician
The police officers now helped Michael to find the head physician. Michael knew the head physician, as he regularly contacted him when he sent him patients. The man looked like he was about to explode.
One of the police officers instructed him to explain the situation briefly. Michael explained how he had come here, that he was looking for his wife and still had not received any information. The head physician ordered a nurse to take Michael to his wife.
The hospital was against his visit
Michael felt as if the staff didn't want to deal with him at all, at least that's how it felt. They apparently did not realize that he himself was a doctor who occasionally worked with them.
On the way to Emily's location, Michael now asked for an explanation regarding the yellow bracelet. The nurse was puzzled and couldn't give Michael any information. He frowned and walked a bit faster.
The room
Michael didn't understand what was going on, but he hoped that at least his wife was doing well. The nurse led him to a room where his wife was supposedly waiting for him. He opened the door
As the door finally swung open, he immediately saw his wife. Emily was lying asleep on the bed. She looked a bit pale and exhausted, and indeed, the neighbor had been right - a yellow bracelet was wrapped around Emily's arm.
Michael demanded an explanation
Michael turned to the nurse and looked at her with a penetrating gaze. She already knew what he would ask. Michael explained that the yellow bracelet must be a mistake. The yellow bracelet had a meaning.
Yellow stood for people who arrived at the hospital without insurance. This mistake could cost them dearly if it was not corrected immediately. Fortunately, Emily was feeling better now. She had lost consciousness because she had not been drinking enough. Now they just needed to fix the insurance mistake.
Going home
The nurse made sure that Emily was connected to an IV drip and could rest for a moment. Soon she would be well enough to return home. Michael could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
After Michael realized the mistake and spoke to the head physician, everything could be resolved. The two of them then had a conversation about how to improve their working relationship in the future, and Emily was allowed to return home.
