Thomas had no other choice; he didn't know what to do next. He decided to call Kyle's old partner John. Since they had worked together for so many years.

As Thomas got closer to the tree, he quickly realized that something about it wasn't quite right. A large part where Kyle sat in front of was somewhat broken and collapsed.
It looked as if it was pressed in. Thomas looked around to see if he could get help, but who was he trying to fool? They were deep in the woods, with no chance of anyone passing by.
A shocking discovery
He gathered all his courage and pushed the broken part of the tree inward. However, he then noticed how Kyle suddenly began to growl a bit and turned defensive.
As Thomas continued forward, he noticed there was a lot of space in the tree. When he discovered what was buried in the tree, he squealed and jumped back, almost tripping over Kyle.

He could hardly believe his eyes, but it appeared that a skeleton was hidden in the tree! He couldn't make out a complete view of it but was sure of what he saw.
How could a skeleton get lost, right? Afraid he might disturb a crime scene or something, he quickly ensured he wouldn't touch the tree anymore.

Without further ado, he dialed John's number back with a trembling hand. John could hardly believe what he heard from Thomas on the phone and really had to listen twice.
Desperately, Thomas reported what he had discovered in the woods and called for immediate help. After registering the news, John sprang into action immediately, taking two forensic pathologists with him as they rushed to the scene.
A long journey
The drive down to Kyle's new house took longer than he realized. They were still on the road for two hours. John was surprised at how much further they had to go.
He hadn't visited Kyle since he moved away with his new family. John had been so absorbed in his work that he had almost forgotten about his old partner. And somehow, this thought made him feel guilty.

However, the forensic pathologists stopped him before he proceeded with the call. As they only needed a few seconds to determine the origin of the skeleton. After all, they were experts in this field.
Halloween decoration
A forensic examination usually took at least a week to determine who the bones or skeleton ultimately belonged to. But in this case, they solved the mystery a bit faster.
For if the bones were plastic, this type of examination was unnecessary. It was almost ridiculous that a Halloween decoration had given them such a scare.
A touch of suspicion
It turned out the skeleton was a fake and most likely placed there as a prank by someone living nearby. John was immensely relieved about it but also a bit surprised.
Kyle had been sufficiently trained to recognize a genuine treat and distinguish whether something was dangerous or not. Could it be an intentional false alarm, or why would Kyle react so much to a fake skeleton?
