Heartbreaking Discovery During an Excursion Leaves a Thuringian Woman in Distress

Taking advantage of the last beautiful days in October to go on a hike - that's what a woman had in mind as she ventured into the woods near Nordhausen. However, instead of enjoying the outing, she had a shocking experience!

Sad Find in the Woods

At a particularly secluded spot by a creek, she noticed something that caught her attention - two frightened young cats. They appeared visibly hungry and thin. But rescuing them proved to be challenging.

Although the location was only about two kilometers away from the Nordhausen animal shelter as the crow flies, the journey there was quite demanding. When the volunteers finally arrived, everything seemed uncomplicated initially. The little male cat was quickly captured without much fuss and taken to safety. The young female cat, on the other hand, put up quite a resistance!

Despite trying to catch her by hand, it became clear that a cat trap was necessary.

The Difficult Rescue of the Kittens

Approximately an hour and a half later, there was finally a relieving click! The female cat was literally trapped and could now be transported to the safe haven of the animal shelter as well.

The animal shelter posed a pivotal question in their Facebook post on October 20th: "How these two cats, who look quite different, ended up there - we don't know... But how long would they have survived?"

Users Breathe a Sigh of Relief

The rescue of the "young wild ones," as the kittens were spontaneously named by users, visibly touched the followers of the animal shelter. "It breaks one's heart," commented one user. Another user expressed evident relief, saying, "At least now the little wild ones are safe, well-fed, and receiving veterinary care."
