Reproduction in the ant realm culminates in the queen laying thousands of eggs, prompting the entire colony to momentarily pause. Upon the emergence of the larvae, the column, delicately ferrying them, resumes its march, heralding destruction in its wake.

Feeding on all that crosses their path, army ants, fueled by their blindness, assail even prey a thousand times their size. The victim, caught unawares or slumbering, falls prey to the entire collective in unison, succumbing to dismemberment and live consumption. Their actions, devoid of venomous stings or corrosive acids, evoke boundless panic in targeted animals, perceived by ant soldiers as threats to the colony's existence.

Despite their ferocity, there are no known adversaries of these marauding ants. Capable of decimating creatures as large as horses, army ants evoke terror and dread in African residents, laying waste to all in their trajectory. Their adeptness at constructing self-made bridges for river crossings adds to their reputation, with reports of these colossal ants feasting on poultry, rats, and leaving horses and dogs lifeless. Encounter with such an army forebodes grim outcomes, as they can consume a sizable animal within a mere 6-7 days.

In a peculiar turn, African communities employ army ants as surgical clamps, guiding them to wound edges. As the ants bite through, their bodies are excised, leaving their jaws to unite wound margins until healing transpires.
